Treasure is a sweet, loving Pit bull, that had been at the pound for several months with a broken leg and dislocated hip. Most likely, the dog had been hit by a car, and was suffering from severe injuries that had never been treated. Lacey pulled Treasure out of the pound and took her home. She then immediately started a campaign to raise money so that Treasure could get surgery for her leg. Thanks to all of you who made donations to help save Treasure’s leg, Lacey was able to get the surgery done for Treasure, and the dog has since made a full recovery! To make the story even happier, Treasure was later adopted out to one of Lacey’s best friends! Since Lacey's best friend lives just 5 miles away, Lacey gets to visit Treasure on a regular basis. Treasure’s past suffering is now just a faded memory. A big thanks goes out to all of you who donated… making it possible for this sweet dog’s leg, and life, to be saved.
James, another Pit bull, is a dog who had the biggest and silliest personality that would bring a smile to the face of anyone who was in the room with him. He was just a big, loving, goofball. When Lacey first saw James in his concrete cell at the pound, she noticed him squinting his eyes really badly, and they were also watering and tearing a lot. He also was constantly wiping at his eyes with his paw. He was in obvious pain. Asking about him to one of the staff members of the animal shelter, Lacey learned that poor, poor James had been suffering in that condition for months! So Lacey pulled James from the pound, and immediately took him to the vet. The vet said that James was suffering from an excruciatingly painful condition called “entropion”. Entropion is a condition that affects the eyes of some dogs, where their lower eyelid rolls inward, causing the eyelashes to rub and scrape against the cornea, to the point of causing an ulcer on the eye ball. Lacey had the surgery performed on James the very next day after she pulled him out of the pound. Although the vet said that was one of the worst cases he had ever seen, James eventually did make a full recovery in Lacey’s home. He later was adopted out to a loving family who has a big yard, 3 kids who will play with him, and another little dog to befriend him. James will never have to feel pain or neglect again.
"SCOUT" -- most recent (as of October 9, 2007)
Scout is a sweet sheltie mix, who had been living and sleeping on concrete, in a noisy, scary animal shelter in Los Angeles for over 3 months! He was on the shelter’s “red list”, meaning he was scheduled to be euthanized because no one seemed to want him. He was "too old", and apparently he didn't matter anymore. But Lacey knew that in spite of his age, Scout still had a lot of love to give! Scout was suffering from severe and painful arthritis in his hips, and when Lacey rescued him from the shelter, she immediately started him on aggressive arthritis treatments. Once Scout was in her home, she also discovered a tumor on his side. Scout is now in need of a life-saving operation to have this tumor removed. Scout is a sweet, sweet boy, and deserves to have a few more years of life. Lacey is currently (as of October 9 and onward) accepting donations that will go towards Scout’s surgery. Please help Lacey. Please help the animals. Please make a donation today!
